The Long Tail

Just came across a great post from Bob Walsh over at on the long tail...

The long tail analysis is a major justification for our entry into the online distance education market here in IT Sligo (School of Engineering - ). Here is an article I wrote for the online US magazine: Learning Circuits - A New Cost Model for Distance Education in Europe?
We believe that there is a huge international market for our courses, but we are not that well set up to exploit this. If any of you entrepeneurs out there have any ideas on how this might be done feel free to contact me at

We are also interested in the educational sector -- believing that the tablane browser, its Collection feature and the on-line environment we are building are well suited for the provision and distribution of links to educational material.

Our emerging approach is to talk to educational publishers, notably in the UK, and see whether established routes to market can be leveraged.

We don't know whether this will work or whether its the best approach though. I'll be in Sligo in a couple of weeks time and will try and hook up.
